Quick food is always a winner for me. I like brats on a little grill, instant mashed potatoes and canned chili heated up just enough, when you're tired and cold, comfort food is the best.

I'm a big breakfast guy. In the woods or field before first light and back in camp late morning for breakfast and possible a nap. My favorite camp meal is something I call egg stew. Start by browning some bulk sausage in a fairly large pot, then add some chopped onions (pronounced UN-youne like Justin Wilson). When the onions are tender add some chopped potatoes and water. Once the potatoes are soft, make little wells in the stew with the back of a spoon and break some eggs in the wells. Cook the eggs to the doneness of your liking and enjoy. Goes great with dutch oven biscuits, but that's something for another time.

I My family enjoys “silver turtles”. Just cur up some chicken or sausage or whatever you like, then vegetables that go with it like potatoes carrots. Then let everyone pick whatever they want and wrap it all up in tin foil. Everyone cooke their own on the fire grate. Keeps the kids entertained and makes meal time easier.
