That’s an interesting question. Kinda like players shooting a free throw. But I really don’t do anything before shooting. I never thought about it. I guess that’s what I do. Start with a clear mind already. But now I’ll think about it instead of focusing, so thanks for thatEveryone has their own little ritual before a shot. Maybe simple, maybe weird...what’s your method for calming nerves when it matters?
Simple and effective...I tap my thumb twice and breathe slow to kinda reset things.

That’s a well-thought-out routineNo caffeine 3 hours before range time. I eat a sandwich and drink a 20 ounce bottle of water enhanced with Gatorlyte electolyte beverage powder on the drive to the range.
Once at the range, I take my time getting things ready; then, loading my first mag by hand while visualizing the first element of my range plan.
You’re clearly thinking through fundamentalsSince switching to a lefty this past year, I do a checklist in my head of basics. Arm straight, web high grip, and support hand thumb location check because it varies depending on the gun. Finally is my optic working and the right intensity. Then make sure I can snap to that position.
In slow fire precision I look away and take four relaxing breaths then face target and take one more full breath before raising my pistol at the top of next breath. Partially release and attempt to fire as soon as I am aligned. I try to do this exactly the same way each time. I rest in between to delay fatigue from setting in as long as possible. In rapid fire, I try not to fight to hold it on target but fire every time I get lined up again. I’m open to tips since I’m new to bullseye.
