I actually use maybe five guns regularly. But I own way more than that. The rest are just because I wanted them, not needed them. There's what you actually shoot and then there's the whole collection. What's your "actually use" number compared to your total number?

I own two dozen pistols in 9mm and .40S&W. Most of them are S&W Gen3s.

I've given some of my Walther pistols to my grand kids in the past few years.

I use to rotate 9mm and .40S&W pistols with the seasons. Today, I only carry 9mm, because I've decided to only carry ammo the local sheriff uses to equip his deputies. It is just one less thing the county prosecutor can pick at if I ever need to use my gun to defend myself or others.

I like my Walther PPSm1 and my S&W Model 3953 for EDC.

All of my firearms, with the exception of some Civil War era Colt revolvers, are shooters that are kept in "like new" condition, cleaned after every outing.

I have 3 primary 9mm target guns. I choose one of those for each range visit. I have 3 precision target 22lr pistols same deal. Then I choose a theme for what else I take. I might choose a revolver or a 1911 or one of my carry guns, usually something I’ve worked on that I want to assess if I made any improvements to. It seems like I am always changing up a grip or updating a trigger or sights. Sometimes a new optic. Keeps things interesting but inevitably I realize I have left something out of the rotation to get to next time.

For years have had a thing for older S&W revolvers and have accumulated a large and motley assortment of pre-1970's models. I'm not a 'collector', not wealthy enough to be that.
They span in caliber from .22, .32, .32-20.,.38 Spl,. .357 Mag., .41 Mag., .44 Mag., .45 ACP, .45 Colt. None are safe queens, all get shot at some point. Some I use as a handgun hunter.
Carry guns are mostly some sort of M1911, my favorite being a Ruger SR1911 LW Commander, a great pistol that's been 100% and didn't cost a fortune.
So, this is what it's like as an ol' guy that started down the road of being a gun geek in his early teens.
