This year I'm actually gonna scout more instead of winging it

Every season I tell myself I'll scout properly. Then September hits and I'm just guessing where to hunt...this year, that changes! I'm putting in the off-season work. What hunting or outdoor habit are you actually committing to change in 2026? Let's hold each other accountable.

I bought a ladder stand on sale ar Walmart $60. It’s my first. I think I have the perfect place for it, but I’m gonna put cameras all around including further away to see the deer’s direction of travel. I live in Ashe county, with the most Christmas trees of any county in the country. (True fact) So Ive got lazy lately because I hunt the tree fields, almost a sure thing, but it’s just not the same.

I’m writing down trail cam pics better this year. Not just checking the, but looking at patterns before the season. That should save me some walking.
