The hunting trip that didn't go as planned

I once scouted for weeks, had the perfect spot picked out, knew the patterns. Opening morning came and there was another truck already parked at my trailhead. Someone else had the same idea. I ended up hiking three miles further in, saw nothing and came home empty-handed. Sometimes hunting is less about skill and more about luck and timing
 
My Dad, rest his soul, was not a hunter, but we fished a lot together and I credit him with teaching me to love the outdoors.
Will always recall that no matter the outcome of our trips, which could include an old outboard quitting, breaking a rod, trailer bearings failing, getting temporarily lost, etc...... - he explained that 'It's always an adventure'.
No matter what = always an adventure.

Your dad had the right idea! Every trip, no matter what, is a chance to make memories.
