My daughter and son-in-law invited me to join them at the B&R Range for some practice with our EDCs. My daughter had her Walther PPQ, hubby at his FN FNX and a S&W Model 19-4 (my old duty gun), and I was had my S&W Models 3953 and 3913LS.

All of us had our target out at the 7 yard line. The youngsters had 12" reactive splatter targets. I was using my usual 6" paper plate, 3X5 card, 3" Post-it, and 2"X1.5" Post-it.

I made the mistake of lining up to the right of my SOL. His FNX throws the used casings and they were hitting me every time. So, I had to either focus hard on my shooting or reload my mags while he shot and shoot when he was reloading. The latter option worked well.

I did well with my DAO 3953 3.5" using 115gr Winchester, and after the first mag was also happy with the TDA model 3913 Lady Smith 3.5" with the same ammo. Maybe the .40S&W casings pinging off me while I was using the "Lady" caused a few rounds to go astray. No.

I did get to shoot my old S&W Model 19-4, 4-inch, .357 magnum. Surprise, surprise, I hit paper with every round.

It was a good day to spend time with my daughter and son-in-law while getting in some solid self defense practice.
