Been thinking a lot about what people wear to the range lately. It's been an eye-opener for me. I'm not talking about fancy gear or anything, just your everyday clothes.

I've noticed that some folks roll in wearing full camo, which seems a bit much when we're just doing basic drills or shooting a few rounds. It just feels out of place unless you’re hunting or deep in the woods. Not hating on it at all, but sometimes I'm wondering if it makes it harder to just focus on shooting rather than looking the part.

For me, I stick with jeans, a simple shirt, and sturdy boots. I think it's good to keep it comfy and safe—definitely no sandals or anything like that. Plus, I like not drawing too much attention. It feels more practical.

Is anyone else feeling this way, or am I just overanalyzing the whole outfit thing? I’m curious to hear what others think!

I like a long sleeve shirt with a collar that buttons at the neckline in case I have someone next to me ejecting casings at me. I also wear a ball cap or one with a wide brim for the same purpose. Jeans and tennis shoes with a hoodie or jacket if weather dictates.

A lot of the camo guys are wearing the outfit for the first time to check fit and feel when shooting, and have an excuse to get it laundered before they head to the woods.

Yup, same as you. Jeans, sturdy hiking boots and T-shirt, maybe a flannel, a sweatshirt or jacket depending on the time of year and the temperatures. Personally, I would feel like a dork going to the range in full Rambo attire.

Whatever im wearing that day. Except if im wearing sandals, I’ll change into regular shoes. Personally, to each his own, but dressing up in combat gear to shoot at a range is like having a pavement princess Jeep all decked out with off road stuff. It’s fine if that’s what you do, I don’t judge, but I just don’t see the point.

It has been said “train with your gear” but I believe in training with your daily clothes or what you wear most of the time. These days I don’t have a choice since I go early in the morning every Wednesday and sometimes fridays too. I go in my work clothes, not really a uniform but clothes I designated for work. Which consists of jeans, fishing style button shirts, and my driving sneakers because I change into work boots when I’m at work. I don’t have any issues with whatever people want to wear. I’ll leave that to the “I’m pro 2A, BUT” guys…

Long sleeve fishing shirt, dickies flex pants, my work boots, and a wide brim hat.

Long sleeves and hat cause skin cancer, work boots because they’re sturdy and comfortable, and pants because I don’t want to catch a charge.

How one dresses or acts creates an impression on all those who surround him (or her). Being loud and obnoxious makes a bad impression. Dressing up in cammies or with alice packs/LBE and playing like a "Range Day Rambo" creates a very bad impression, especially to first time visitors to public ranges.

You may not like or agree with it, but I'm here to tell you that a lot of people DO "judge a book by its cover". And those of us who have been to a war zone, or two, quietly laugh inside at the "Ranger Wannabe's".

The last thing in the world you want after you are forced to use a firearm to defend yourself or your family is for the prosecutor to call to the witness stand the guy who was standing next to you at the range on the day you brought your "assault rifle" and 'GI ammo can" to the range all dressed up in your cammies and talking about capping Libtards and Commies. The jury also judges a book by its cover...... big time.
