Reloading is sort of a whole 'nuther facet of firearms interest and involvement. Of course there's a learning curve, and you must be careful.
I've been enjoying it since ~1974, loading more calibers and gauges than I like to think about. For hunting, there's something special about making meat with ammo you loaded. If you shoot competitively, there's that same satisfaction to have done well with the ammo you loaded.
With good planning, you can ignore many of the shortages. I still have components stocked for the "Prepare for Y2K" event.
