So, the first time when I got into hunting I was quite lost on what outdoor gear to buy. For the beginners out there, just grab an orange hat and vest, some sturdy waterproof boots, and compact binoculars for spotting game in places like Pisgah. Also, have a reliable field knife. It is a must for processing. In time, you will get more and more, but for the start it is good if you have these.

That list covers the essentials, but toss in a good rangefinder if you can swing it for under 100 bucks to judge distances accurately in thick woods like Pisgah. Helps avoid wasting shots on game thats too far or too close.

One thing you left out is a hydration pack instead of just a water bottle, keeps your hands free while trekking.

I learned that the hard way after spilling mine on a steep climb last fall.

When I started hunting i couldn't believe how cold my feet got sitting in a blind. I wasn't used to sitting still and not doing something to get the blood flowing. So I would say insulated boots and thick wool socks.
Also I would say to focus on getting quality gear one piece at a time. A decent scope is better than a crappy scope and a crappy set of binoculars.
