This isn’t a bear spray versus gun debate because I carry both. But having a .44 Mag on my hip in dense terrain changes how I think about things, especially when a shot could be just a few yards away. It’s a very different situation compared to open terrain. You really need to understand your environment and plan ahead.

Carrying a .44 Magnum up close makes you rethink every step. It’s all about preparation, awareness and respecting your surroundings out there.
 
Yeah a .44 makes the forest feel smaller and every noise way more interesting
 
I carried a Redhawk in Alaska with Buffalo Bore hardcasts. I have never had to draw it, thankfully but just knowing it was there made a difference

Yeah, at that range it’s less about gear talk and more about awareness and staying calm.
