I taught my kids basic land navigation with a topo map and compass this summer and they complained the whole time. They also nailed the final exercise. I'm calling that a win..

Sure! I can teach you the basics, compass, map reading and some hands-on practice. Fair warning: a little frustration is part of the fun, but you’ll crush it!

Yeah, sounds about right. Kids complain until they realize they’ve actually picked something up. Mine were the same way with fishing. The grumbling is just part of the learning curve.
