Don't get me wrong, I am a big Trump supporter but he has been in office 7 months now and I am still paying close to $3.00. Have not even heard any discussion on the news.

Often not added to the usual list of reasons - Inflation. Source is Investipedia...

How Much Was a Gallon of Gasoline in the U.S. in Each Decade?

Converted to 2024 dollars, here are gas prices at the beginning of each decade from 1950:20

  • 1950: $0.27 ($3.29)
  • 1960: $0.31 ($3.20)
  • 1970: $0.36 ($2.75)
  • 1980: $1.25 ($4.43)
  • 1990: $1.16 ($2.67)
  • 2000: $1.51 ($2.66)
  • 2010: $2.79 ($3.90)
  • 2020: $2.17 ($2.56)
US consumers spend less on gasoline and consume more gallons than most other nations.

Most people try to blame whoever the president is at the time( dem or rep). But who the president is at the time has very little to with gas prices. More drilling area has been opened up than in recent history, but the oil companies aren’t taking up the leases. There would be too much supply and then prices would drop. Oil companies make more profit when supply is lower.

I'm seeing big swings $2.79 one day $2.99 the next. All the crap in the Middle East is one of the reasons the price hasn't come down much. Who knows?

The US consumer might kiss the gas pump every time they fill their fuel tanks when they consider their good fortune. We pay less than half what most others are paying while consuming nearly 5 times per capita.
