When someone asks to try your expensive gun

There's always that moment of hesitation when someone wants to shoot your nice rifle or custom 1911. You want to be generous, but you're also calculating in your head whether they'll break it or shoot terribly and blame the gun. Usually I say yes but give a quick safety brief first. Most people are respectful, but that one time someone wasn't taught me to be more selective.

I try to be generous in sharing my new pistols although I sometimes get those feelings. As a result, I have gotten to try some higher end pistols when the shoe was on the other foot. A net positive in my book.

Good question. I usually trade off with the person asking. I've had the pleasure of trying guns I'd never buy but wondered about. It's not the gun, it's the operator.
